Being true to their words (finally!) that they will announce the winners on September 7, 2009 (a day earlier even), the organizers of the Gig Book Story Writing Contest has released the winners of the writing contest.

Receiving in my email (just now), the winners of the Gig Book Writing contest are (listed here in alphabetical order based on the title of the stories):

Jeremy’s Magic Well by Eliza Victoria

The ten authors will receive P20,000 each, a winner’s certificate, and a chance for their story to be published as a full-color, fully-illustrated children’s book.

Many have been asking about what happened to the Gig Book Story Writing Contest, this blogger included.

They were supposed to announce the winners this month, but August is about to end and no announcement of winners have been received from the organizers.

What happened to the Gig Book Story Writing Contest?

I have submitted an entry myself and also anxious of the results of the contest. Not really expecting to win (but hoping, of course), but just wanting to know the results… and if ever, I would know what to do for next year.

Just like the other entry senders, I received email updates. But they contain nothing messages telling me that they are ’still in the process’ of selecting the winners and they will announce it soon.

No specific dates were given in previous email.

But finally! The latest email has some better developments. They didn’t announce the winners yet, but they gave a date for the release of the result.

The email says winners will be announced on September 7, 2009, Monday. It will be posted in their blog, and they will also send notice to all participants on the contest.

Individual winners will also be sent email, text, voice call, or a mail through the mailing address submitted to the organizers.

So that’s it.

Until September 7 then, and let us keep our fingers crossed.
