The night I was living my dream

It used to be just but a dream… a wishful thinking… something that I never really thought would happen… not by a long-shot!

But fate knows better.

And what was but a dream became real… and I was able to see it… to be it. I was able to live my dream.

I had my book launching for my REFLECTION last May 27, 2011 at the Museo Ning Angeles which was witnessed by my friends, families, and couple more strangers who were curious about the “no-name author” who was launching a book.

And as luck would have it, I even have the mayor of Angeles City in attendance at my book launching. Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan was there because there were other events that night too. But I was very much honored that he stayed and finished the book launch program before they proceeded with the other events. My endless appreciation for the honor, Mayor Pamintuan.

My guest speaker and book reviewer for the night was Dr. Archimedes David, Vice-president for Academic Affairs of Angeles University Foundation. My elementary teachers and advisers were also present to witness my book launching.

Like what I said, it was a night that I was living my dream. No, make that, it was a night that I was the dream! It was a night I was bigger than anyone else…. It was a night that I was loved. I was able to savor all that, knowing very well that the next day, people may not be as enthusiastic with me as they were that night.

That is why I cherished it all… even for just a single night.

Indeed, the experience that I had that night was really overwhelming. In fact, the euphoric sensation even lasted for a couple of days, which would explain this delayed post. And until now, I don’t think I am even making sense with this post.

I know it may take a while before I may duplicate that feat, but for now, that single night was enough. The REFLECTION book launching only proved that dreams do come true.

And this I have to mention. Twenty years ago, I said to my officemates during lunch break, after showing them my REFLECTION notebooks, “Who knows, one day these poems will be published in a book. I can even imagine myself having a book launch for my poetry book.”

Isn’t it bliss when what you dreamed actually happen?

Of course, the book launching wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of my friends: CLTV 36, The Northern Brew Coffee Shop, Northpoint Academy, Notes & Rhythm Music School, Light Crystal Publishing House, Primemovers (HAU HS Batch ’85), Kayantabe (S.T.E.S. Batch ’81) and the Kuliat Foundation Inc. (Museo Ning Angeles).

Those who want to get a copy of REFLECTION may do so by using the contact form at my publisher’s website and they will coordinate with you on how you can send your payments and the delivery of the book.

I think the only way to survive in this crazy 2011 world. Is to have dreams no matter what folks try to tell you. Dreams are god talking to you to do something better with your life. Life will lay a path to your dreams as long as you take the first baby step with your eyes facing forward. Dreams make life worth the effort to get what all you want out of it. To be honest nightmares are boring and a waste of positive energy so don’t think to be a boring person hehehehhehehehehehehe lol.

So true! Except for one thing… the nightmares you get at night (not the worries in your head that consume you during waking hours) can be put into proper perspective and seen as “free movies without the calories and expense of theater popcorn.” Seriously – what cliffhangers (when you have to wake to use the bathroom)! What dramatic tension (when you’re slogging through Jell-O and the monsters are running like they’ve trained for a marathon)! What emotion (when you wake drenched in sweat or sobbing your heart out)! I wish I could record mine and charge for tickets! :)
