Why I sing on YouTube
I know I don’t have the voice of Arnel Pineda, the charm of Charice Pempengco, nor even the wit and appeal of Roadfill and Moymoy Palaboy. So why the hell am I singing on YouTube?!
Two things – I can and I want to.
Seriously now, I sing on YouTube not to showcase the talent that I don’t have, which is a good singing voice. I know my voice cracks every so often and I am very much aware of it, thank you.
But the real reason I do it, is the same reason I post my poems on my blogs.
To share what I wrote.
YouTube is a great venue for me to share my original compositions.
Yes, just in case you didn’t know, aside from writing poems I also compose songs. By posting them in YouTube and at the same time sharing them in Facebook with my friends, I get feedback on them.
So far, the feedback has been so encouraging. A boost that I so badly needed in preparation for something that I am waiting for.
The time to do that something has come finally – I WILL BE JOINING A SONGWRITING CONTEST!
This has been the reason of my recent posts lately on my FB wall – the reluctance and the affirmation.
It’s a long shot, with a lot of talented songwriters out there, I would be lucky if I would even be noticed. Then again, how would I know if I didn’t try, right?
“Opportunity not taken is opportunity missed”
So does my friend replied to my status post. Straight and absolute.
Losing is not bad, not taking the chance is.
Does my resolve is, as this blog is my witness, I am psyching myself up and I will join that songwriting contest.
You may want to listen to my original songs, which were posted in this blog, for the last time. I might delete them anytime soon, if I would be entering them in the competition.
One good thing going for me in this contest is that, my son Edgar Allan agreed to sing and record the song for me, which gives me a better chance rather than me singing my songs.
And now, it’s time to roll my sleeves, whack my brains and write some songs.
WISH ME LUCK!
(I need it very badly!)

May God continually bless and multiply that talents He gave to you. Use it! share it for His glory and honor.
I don’t want to wish you good luck because I don’t believe in any luck. God gave us talents and so it’s not luck but a blessing. I pray that God will always be on your side as you enter this new journey of your life that God had planned well specially for you.

Go for it, Roy. As regards Youtube, I hope you don’t get under the radar of those nasty Youtube commenters. And even if they do, carry on. You’re living your life on your own terms while making your dreams come true.
