Google taps, slaps… and still puzzles me
Yes, the page rank updates are up again, and as usual I still do not understand it. NOT A BIT.
Luckily, this blog was”promoted” from a 2 to a 3, my business news blog got a 1 from a previous N/A while the rest remained in 1, 2 or nil.
They say this update on page rank happens every three months.
What puzzles me is that in between the supposed to be scheduled updates, some of my blogs would suddenly have a 2 where there used to be N/A. After a few days, this will go back to N/A again… then back to 2… then again, back to N/A where it will unfortunately stay. What gives?
Many would say keeping your blogs updated regularly would give it a possible chance getting a “green” light. Well, read this – my original Kapampangan blog which I haven’t updated for eons maintained its PR2 (as of this writing) since the day I last updated it (April 2009). I choose not to update it in favor of my new Kapampangan Blog.
So, definitely it’s not in the frequency of posts.
Quality of posts? That is subjective. What may be a killer post for one might just be“blah” for another.
Really now, can anyone really decipher the algorithm that Google follows in giving website pages ranks? I don’t think so.
So, for your peace of mind, just don’t think about it. Don’t even think it exists.
Personally, I really don’t care about PR. It’s good if have it, but it doesn’t matter I don’t. I am a blogger, and I write for myself. I do not write for Google.
I can hear you loud and clear. I know you’re saying that if I really don’t care about page ranks, then why am I writing about it?
Well, for one, it sure makes great blog filler, don’t you agree?

Me too. I really do not think about page rank in my sites. I do not know why. I do not want to make it like a work. I want to enjoy blogging because it lessen my stress.

blog filler? mine is for traffic. hehe. i wasn’t just able to sustain the post with backlinks, therefore it slides further away from the front pages. but if you check my sports blog using a keyword spy tool, i rank high for the google pr update in 2009″

hehe… I wish I could do that consciously, Novz. I mean building my traffic at will. Whatever traffic I’m getting are from friends
Are you attending iBlog6 tomorrow?

It’s not the frequency of posting, I suspect. I hardly update my blog this year and yet it retains its PR. Even Yatot remarked about it. Well, as you say, we primarily write for our friends. Good if it earns PR. If not then I’d just say Google sucks and be done with it. LOL
It will be good if every now and then if we get a stampede of web search visitors, don’t you think so? Ahehehe. Yeah, let me dream on.
iBlog6 hopefully unravels some of the Google mysteries tomorrow.

a stampede, then the webhost kicks us out, just before we earn those cents. some hosts actually charges bandwidth fee.
