A year of fruitful struggling… a year of blessings
It was a year of fruitful struggling… and I am a very thankful.
The year 2009 saw me received more blessings than I even asked for… and to think that at the at end of 2008, I was facing 2009 with nary a hope in my heart.
But I was wrong… oh boy! Am I glad I was wrong!
As 2009 started, the blow of the wind of my fate immediately changes… and how!
To start with, this blog — hosting, theme, and domain name, were all prizes that I won from my friends’ contest.
Jessie gave me a free one-year hosting for this blog after I won in his contest, Amor designed this blog’s theme specially for me after winning from her contest too. And because I was lucky enough to win by just commenting on his blog, Bloggista sponsored the domain name for this blog.
A complete package won in a week’s span! And it set the trend. Because I was winning blog contest left and right after that.
First, I won 1,500 EC credits from an Entrecard contest in February, and on March I won another domain name from Evilwoobie which gave birth to my Short Stories Blog.
Not really wanting to push my luck, I stop joining contest for a while. I do not want to tarnish my 100% winning record
But Dee’s Mother Day contest was too hard for me resist. I wanted that Chicken Soup for the Soul book. Fortunately I won again.
The sweetest victory though, was when I won as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2009. A recognition that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It made me feel like a… blogger
Of course, that wouldn’t happen without the support of all my friends, those who believe, including those who don’t. Thank you very much.
I also received my first “gift” from Google this year (and the next one coming very, very soon), and so I was able to buy our sala set.
I don’t think I need to mention all those “writing opportunities” I received that has kept me afloat throughout the year.
And you don’t really believe I would miss mentioning the Inspirational Book from Bloggers All Over the World, do you? Yes, our book got published this year, and I am part of it!
As if all blessings aren’t enough, as the year ends, a job literally landed on my lap. And it pushes further my self-esteem cause now I can be a good provider for my kids.
But most all, my biggest blessing really are my kids, who are growing to be fine, God-fearing individuals. And may I add, talented too! (just see my previous posts). I am also thankful that all of us were healthy throughout the year.
Lastly, I am thankful that I am blessed with friends who have supported me in every endeavor that I take. Friends from my forum years to my blogging days, online and offline, then and now, thank you very much.
This struggling blogger wouldn’t be much of a fighter without your support.
Thank you.

It’s a fantastic year. We shared the same good fortune: contests won, influential blog award, contributor to Jen’s anthology of inspirational stories, and great online friends. We started small, called ourselves Jedi Bloggers and today we’ve become bigger and blessed with lots more supportive friends.
Sure, I’ve yet see the fruits of my blogging labors via AdSense check. And sure, I can only wish I have marvelous kids of my own, but hey, I have you and the rest of the gang. I have good health. What can be better?
Here’s to another exciting and fruitful year ahead of us.
