Earth Hour 2009 – March 28
My daughter Angel appreciated last year’s Earth Hour. For one hour, the lights were off… no TV, no computers, not even an electric fan was on. It was total darkness.
We were gathered in one corner of the house, me and my three kids, sharing different stories, which we rarely do because of too much electronic distractions available to us.
That is just one of the benefits of Earth Hour, that’s why we are looking for this year’s Earth Hour which is set on March 28. On that day, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, all lights will be turned off.
The Earth Hour started in Sydney in 2007 in a one-city environmental campaign. This has attracted worldwide attention and since evolved into an international event of awareness campaign.
As you can see, this is not just a national event in the Philippines, but a worldwide campaign that will be participated by at least 76 cities in 62 countries, including the Philippines.
Spearheading this campaign is the World Wildlife Fund.
The opportunity to spend quality time with the kids, for me is the best benefit one father can get from this exercise… of course, not to mention the millions of pesos saved by turning off lights for one hour.
Remember that date, March 28, 2009, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM – lights out!
