If I write, will you read? If I beg, will you feed?

Today, I saw Voltes V

It’s only 2PM, my daughter Angel won’t be out from school until 4PM. It’s too hot to go home and then back again to pick her up. So I just went to a nearby mall to while away time.

I went to Nepo Mall, which is just a stone-throw away from Holy Family. I was just walking around mall, with no definite direction actually. Just trying be cool and comfortable with the mall’s airconditioning system.

As I passed by one establishment which sells toy action figures, I can’t help but take a look. Yes, it brings out the child me, looking at all those X-Men, Marvel and DC heroes, anime characters and more.

But one specific figure caught my attention. I haven’t seen it there before – it was Voltes V.

Actually, it wasn’t just Voltes V, but the picture on the box showed the Voltes Team. Yes, all those five vehicles that combine to form the great heroic robot.

The child in me couldn’t believe it, to see such a toy available at this time. Yes, the robot was popular now because of all the anime hype, but Voltes V actually started depending the earth against the Bozanian since the 70′s, and I was still in grade school then.

It was every child’s dream then to have his own Voltes V.

I went inside of the store to ask if indeed the five vehicles really combine to form Voltes V, which they reply affirmatively. A view of the tag though, brings me back to reality – P10,999.99

I remembered why I never had one when I was a child, and never will have one in the years to come.

And just like the choo-choo train in my childish Christmas wish, this yet, again, another unfulfilled childhood wish.

But still, I am happy that today, I saw Voltes V.

LOL – my kid does not appreciate Voltes V, he prefers Spongebob and Ben 10. During our times, these were hot animes, including GI Joe (from iTot’s blog) as well as the original Transformers cartoons and of course Dragon Ball!

10K for the action figures? That’s a lot, hehe. But they’re worth keeping. I still have my Superman “the wedding album” issue – and now its worth more than 10K on ebay.

    Hi John!

Power Rangers were much later, I already have a son when the original Power Rangers were shown on TV, hehe…

That can only mean you are still young ;)
